Hi all.

Just migrated from the Explorer/Expedition platform, in to a Tahoe in PA.

This is a 2001, Chevy Tahoe w/ 5.3 & Towing Package. Has 235k on it BUT it drives, runs and sounds like something with less than HALF of that. I'm talking quite possibly the quiest V8 I've ever heard. For being a truck from the North East, it has almost NO RUST and ZERO Rocker Rust. I'll be making sure by coating EVERYTHING under this thing with rustoleum and rubber coating.

I bought it and it said LOW COOLANT but it isn't leaving any puddles. She drank about a half gallon through the reservoir. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I want to put a double din touch screen radio in this. It has OnStar but I don't think it has Bose or a Subwoofer.

It's got a few issues but nothing I can't deal with.
  • Drivers door sags.
  • All the Door Speakers are Blown.
  • Cruise Control doesn't work (apparently a common cause from using LED Tail Lights, which this has)
  • Has one Cancer Spot on the Passenger rear door frame.
  • Both back door's creak and pop.

For the rear doors, lube the top of the door seal nearest the door hinge side. It took me a few minutes to find that creak.

One of my speakers was blown (the wire completely separated, impossible for me to repair), the other, the cone is torn, but I've got other things to spend money on before fixing that one. At least I have sound.

Check your trim height, mine was sagging by 1.5 inches. This actually was affecting the handling. You may need to have an alignment done after.

Inspect all your exhaust manifold bolts. I've got two that have popped off, making a loud ticking sound when the engine is cold. Kral makes a kit that a number of people swear by, so I'll be trying that. I'm thinking of replacing the other bolts with upgraded bolts before they snap too. The one that came off on me actually looked like it rusted through at the head!

Oh yeah,

Welcome! So far, I've found this forum very friendly, and helpful too.

I just got my Tahoe a couple of months ago. My father is still driving his 97 Tahoe that he got when it was 3 years old. I had been considering an Expedition, but I found a great deal on my Tahoe.

Yea, all the Expeditions also have this issue. Every single one of them.
