I'm getting near the finish line on installing the engine, and when I was researching the pre-lube setups, I stumbled across some folks deleting the external vacuum pumps on their L83 engines. With the AFM deleted, there is no real need for the external vacuum source.
The reasons make sense, those pumps take up a fair bit of space and its one more thing that can go wrong in the long run. The removal is straight forward, just cap the two oil galleys, GM even makes a kit.
The question is, has anyone here done that? Where did you tap the vacuum system for the power brakes? Upon looking at it closer, the tap on the drivers' side of the intake seems like a logical spot. This normally feeds the PCV system to the crank case, and there are already two other vacuum sources doing that job at the valve covers, so I'm thinking I can just block that off, connect the brake booster to the intake, and be good to go.
thanks!
