Gonna swap out my compressor. Which way do I go Delphi or Sanden or ...........I can get a new Delphi for about 165 new on ebay while the Sanden for under 150 from Tech choice. Originally was gonna go with a new four seasons due to the inexpensive price compared the AC-Delco's but I dont think I can pass up those two.

So which one is it for my 2000 Escalade?

I KNEW IT, ANOTHER QUESTION!

Either is fine Sanden actually probably made the original on on your vehicle. The companies business is mobile air conditioning. AcDelco probably rebrands it under it own name sorta like Delphi. Four season is still good too.

LMAO! I said last one for the weekend! This is a new week! lol

I thought Sanden was the way to go........Guess its like anything else. Realistically thou they all can be had from 130 to 165 so its not about the money. Just dont want anymore problems.

Today was like 94 degrees outside, drove about 1/2 mile then the truck was idling for about 10 minutes. When I felt the compressor it was actually ice cold. This cannot be normal. I ordered a new condendsor by spectra which the shop is going to reimburse me for, so while they have the system open again figure I will get a freebie install on the pump! Hopefully this is the issue!

If you still had the drier unit on there that got left open to environment the second time around then change it too and be done with it. Also this time suck it down for 2 hours if you can. To get every last bit of moisture out of there. And one other thing don't forget to address the oil needs.

Thanks for the advice. I actually shopped around online and purchased the accumulator, orifice, and both high and low side switches all AC-Delco for under 60 bucks shipped. There all sitting in my back seat.....

Two hours? Really? I have to make arrangements that he can/will do it for that long.

As far as the oil goes, I spoke to some guy at tech choice. Very helpfull, spent a ton of time with me on the phone. He said all the oil does is lubricate the compressor. I always thought it helped in removing or preventing excess mositure? He also stated if the compressor is not making noise that there is enough oil. I have no clue, just telling ya what he said.

On a side note, I added two cans oil "oil charge" yesterday. It was 2ozs of oil with 1oz of 134 per can. Only 10 bucks but should have saved my money being there gonna open the system again.

I just want to make sure you have no chance of moisture at all. When you puul out the old compressor measure the amount of oil you can pour out of it and put the same amount in new oil in the new unit.

Thanks!

I may scrap the idea of having the original shop touch the truck. Being I really cannot find a dedicated a/c shop to do the work I may have my buddy who owns a body shop do the work. And he said his buddy will vaccuum and recharge. The body shop guy and his brother have been working on my family's car's for 20+ years. He probably will not even charge me, then all I need to worry about is recharging. I have to think this out so they get atleast 2 hours on the vaccum.

Is this something that can be done over night? What do you think??

I know, I know about a body man doing a/c work but these guys are well rounded. They installed super chargers, NOS systems, car stereos and a ton of other crap for me over the years......

This is the best that I can find w/o dropping $100+ per hour at caddy!
