Hi, am getting close to buying my first 09/10 Denali. My Vette is getting just a little too cramped for an old guy like me. Hips are killing me after a few hours.

I'm retired but I do go on 2 or 3 road trips a year to take pics.

Any strong feelings on 2wd vs AWD? I live in Southern California so would only see ice/snow on vacations I guess. Doubt I would do much off road. But would like to be able to tow a (smaller) travel trailer.

Is AWD any noisier or more problem prone? Money not really a factor..just which would be better for me.

Thanks very much for any info/opinions. Looking forward to spending more time on this forum.

I think the Denali AWD is not intrusive at all. Look at it this way... you may never need the AWD but if money is not a factor, it is nice to know you have it if you ever did need it.

Convenience is what you'll get from AWD. A little bit better ride is what you'll get from 2WD, but I personally prefer the AWD. It is still very smooth.

As with any car, more moving parts = more potential problems. Happened in my 04 AWD Denali... nightmare.

However, I have the AWD in my 09 Denali and I have no problems. AWD holds more value than 2WD in the long run.

all depends on what kind of driving you do. if you have the money for it go ahead and do it, so if you do need it, you know you'll always have it. but if you know you're never ever going to use it, get the 2wd and you'll save a few thousand dollars
