so im in the market for an 04-06 yukon denali. i notice the console / storage doors/ ashtray etc all have the same peeling issue. this would annoy me to no end and i know i would have to fix it. where can i either source new trim pieces , or is there a refinishing fix? does this happen on its own or is it user issue. i cant emagine that many people treating their interior trim wth such roughness.. i mean how do you get all this peel from pushing gently on an ashtray door to open it?

mine in an 01 and it has the paint coming off also. There is a hydro dip place a couple of miles from me, I was going to see if he could match the charcoal color.

New trim pieces either eBay or the dealer. It happens to ALL of them, no matter how well you take care of it. You could have it repainted, but it probably wont have the same rubbery texture.

Even NOS parts are peeling. It was just a crappy finish. I painted mine with some black I had on the shelf. You could do yours with your color of choice....

I bought some Dupli-Color in Dark Shadow Gray BFM0360. it's for the interiors but it's not a GM color and not an exact match so I ended up re-doing all of that color in my '02 Denali- the center console area and the dash bezel. And now I'm doing a DD with an '03 Denali bezel so I get to do a bezel again. The old stuff came off with denatured alcohol and a scotchbrite, pretty bad original paint job. The GM color, Charcoal Metallic DSGM318, couldn't be found. I heard it's not available anymore.
Edit: it's not rubbery like the original but looks almost exactly the same. I think the rubbery feature was the problem with it rubbing off.

Had to do the same thing on my 2003 denali centre console, rubbed off all the rubbery crap and re sprayed the closest charcoal I could find, looked really nice and is still on for the new owner

im also thinking about hydro-dipping mine. if they cant match it ill just have them do the entire assembly and dash bezel to the closest thing.

also, try to stay 05-06. they have the electric fans already.
