Denali Fuel Gauge issue

I jus picked up an '07 Denali for my wife. I love the truck but the fuel gauge will stick at empty when you start it and then after 5 min. or so jump and stay at full. It dosen't float or jump around at all just full or empty. Any ideas out there. Also, I was told 07 and up have a one piece fuel pump/sending unit. Is that true?

Turns out it was the sending unit. You can replace the sending unit without the pump. I must be getting old because I have the shop who dose my work trucks doing it. Just don't feel like dropping the tank myself.
