Dexos 1 Motor oil

I know, not another motor oil thread!?! I recently had my 07 Tahoe in for some work at the local dealer and got the oil changed while it was there. Dexos 1 gen 2 full synthetic 5W-30. They charged me $60.00 for the oil and filter change which I thought was fairly reasonable. Later it occured to me that I probably should have gotten an extra quart or two because the 5.3 engine will burn some until the next oil change (5000 miles). So I stopped by the dealer today to grab a couple bottles. Dilemma, they only have it in the service bay in bulk drums. While they were kind enough to wash out a spare gallon container and put a couple quarts of the bulk oil into it for me because I have an upcoming road trip, (complimentary at that, so kudos to them) I'd still like to have extra around so I won't have to mix in something else in the event I need more. I looked up the oil online and I can get it from several sources like GM Parts Direct, but it just floored me that a dealer doesn't stock 1 quart bottles. I know they maybe aren't in the business of really keeping individual bottles like Advance Auto or O'reilly's but still. It's not like you can find ACDelco oil just anywhere. Anyone run into this or have somewhere they get it easily? I'd rather not mail order oil if I can help it. A 4 pack would be nice or even a case of 12. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Amazon has 6 Qts for $45 with free shipping. Easier than going out.

For adding a quart Wally World Super Tech Synthetic 5-30 will work JUST FINE..... its dexos approved....

Your not pulling 11's in the quarter are you?

Any brand of 5w30 synthetic is absolutely fine, esp for just a top off

Amazon Basics full synthetic or Walmart Supertech full synthetic. Both less than $30 for a 6-pack case.

Thanks all for the replies. I checked with 3 more dealers and none of them stock individual quarts. Guess it will be the mail order route. And no, I'm not pulling 11s in the quarter. That would be cool though.

Are you in Florida by chance? I know of a company that stocks it in 3 gallon boxes, enough for two oil changes. Otherwise, I order it from RockAuto and the cost is on par with the other brands but this stuff is better. It has increased my gas mileage and shown improvements in the engine oil analysis over the old stuff I used to run.
