dexron iii or dexron vi in transmission

im going to be having tranny shop do a fluid change not a flush. I cant find ac delco dex iii anywhere only dexron vi. theres talkthat vi has takin over dex iii, is this true. I will be doing just the change so since it came with dexron iii and if i use dex vi ill be mixing the two, is that ok? im confused.

Dexron III is still available from Valvoline and other brands. Dexron VI is fully backwards compatible with Dexron III. The trans shop I had change the fluid and filter on my Yukon used Dexron VI and I did myself this last time I changed it as well, no issues.

Its fine to mix or convert. But since 3 is still available I still use it, I think its cheaper as well.
