This may sound crazy. Has anyone put a 4" diesel system on their trucks?
I have laid under my truck and looked and measured and thought why not put a 4" in&out muffler and a large single 4" tailpipe. I know on my dually with the Cummins I ran a 51" Donaldson muffler and 4" tailpipe. I just thought of trying something different.

It's way too big & not necessary for these engines...

3.5 wouldn't be bad since you're a 6.0. But 4" is big, unless you're boosted or cam, etc.

I like the dual Mangaflows I have now, but my tail pipes are starting to show some age and most exhaust mfg's won't just sell you the tailpipes, they want you to buy the whole kit. Some I'm just looking at other options. I do plan on some mild boost and maybe a 402" stroker in the future. When you think about volume of flow from 3" collectors into a 3" crossover and into dual mufflers and out the tailpipes......I guess I just need to find a high quality muffler shop to make a pair of tailpipes for me. Finding one that will do them with mandrel bends is the hard part. At this point it's just making a good plan of attack and putting money away.

I'm a DIY guy. I try to make everything on my own. You could get one of those header dual kits from magnaflow or flowmaster and cut and fit your own setup the way you like. I was actually thinking of getting two sets of stock over the axle pipes. Weld them together ans have a dual stock exit. Then get a few mandral bent pieces and straights to connect to the Y with a x pipe. If you lived close I'd help you.

a diesel exhuast system on a small v-8 gas engine is a horrible idea you would probably lose some horse power
diesel exhaust is always excessively large becuase 99 percent have forced induction and must rely on exhuast brake build back pressure other wise you d have to rely only on your breaks when towing that heavy load down a mountain pass and they would burn up fast
usuallly these are referred to as jake brakes or engine retarders everyone has hurd what they sound like
