I'm looking for 2" blocks for my rear. I'm looking for a complete kit. I was told in a previous post that I want a cast iron block.

Here's what I found SO FAR.

Why is the skyjacker kit 50% more than the superlift kit? I don't mind spending the extra $$ if it does anything for me. I just don't want to pay more for a name.

I'm just curious if anyone has real world experience with either kit?

both are cast iron, so either are ok in my book. I am willing to bet the U bolts on either kits are junk to be honest. I run some grade 8 slightly larger diamter on my tahoe, got them at truck spring .com

Ok, thanks for the help guys.

I'll probably order up the cheaper ones then..and possibly source stronger u-bolts.

I got 2 1/2" of lift by rebuilding the rear pack with extra leaves, 7 instead of the stock 4. Didn't need longer u-bolts either, have 3 full threads showing after tightening. Yes, it rides stiffer, but I was after additional weight-carrying capacity too - I can put over 1600lbs of construction materials in the back without bottoming out.

2.5"? Not bad at all...
When I was younger, I did that on my Jeep with 4" blocks to stop axle wrap. I don't think my kidneys have forgiven me yet. :)
But your right, you can load up the lbs without a saggy, droopy rear end, and If I was after load carrying capacity, that's how I would probably go...extra leafs not air bag...
But this go around I'd like to keep my suspension ride as stock as I can because this summer I"m gonna be changing out my shocks from Monroe's Reflex to Bilstein 5100's which will be stiffer. Adding leafs will exacerbate that stiffness.
Thanks though!

So I was on holidays last week and finally go around to ordering up the lift blocks.

I picked the cheaper superlift kit.

I installed them myself today. I didn't go to the family autoshop. I did it in my own garage.

It took me over 6 hours to install. Mostly to get rid of the old ubolts and nuts. I don't have access to or the knowledge to run a torch set. And our shop had torched off the ends of the old ubolts when they replaced my spring packs. So the ends were all uneven and the threads were screwed up. I did have access to a 1/2" breaker bar and a 6' 1.5" pipe. Yup. My kids were on pipe duty for several hours while we twisted some nuts off and just plain powered through others.

Next up are shocks (again), and repairing/painting the cancer.

Here are the end results of a non-mech man labour. I think I'm in love....
