Differences between 1500 and 2500

Just wanting to know the differences between the Yukon 1500s and the 2500s Besides the 8 lug axles and larger springs. Are they different frames etc etc? A friend of mine said that the 2500s are sitting on a Duramax frame? Is that correct?

Supposedly it's a reg cab long bed 2500 frame. I believe that. Would you pull 12k with a 1/2 ton frame?lol
The autoride feature is a little different on the 2500 I believe. Cooling system of the 8.1 is like 2x the size. Brakes are enormous as well. Oh also the 2500 is 6 inches wider

I'm pretty sure the Yukon 1500/2500 are the same width. At least I know the late '90's ones were (Suburbans).

I'm trying to find were I saw that the 2500 was 6 inches wider. May have been talking out my butt then lol

I think the front half of the frame is that of a 1500HD pickup and the rear is the same as a 1500 Suburban. Been years since Ive worked on either, but the pickups have leafs in the rear, yours does not, correct? The width is slightly wider on the 3/4 tons, but Im not sure what rear end they put in the Suburban 2500. I dont think its the same as a 3/4 ton pickup, but I could be wrong.

Oh ok that's good to know. 12k with 1/2 ton would be horrible. Autoride is different? That's interesting to know. Could be wider but I dont think so I would have to look into that. Yes when I changed out my tires I did notice they are massive with 2 piston calipers. Seems to handle like a 1/2 ton but have capabilities of a 3/4 ton

Yes I have leafs in the rear of mine. I have a 14 bolt rear I know that and 4:10 gears. 8 lug axles. I was just wondering if its like a 3/4 ton truck but with a canopy on the back.
