I wasn't exactly sure which section to post this question in since it deals with multiple areas so I figured I would post here for the most exposure.

Has anyone installed this diff cover...
https://yourcovers.com/Merchant5/me...roduct_Code=DC-ASM-10815-1-AC&Category_Code=2

WITH the Spoohn panhard bar AND with the rear end lowered 5-6"????

I know that is getting very specific and asking a lot but I am curious if everything will clear or if I would have to grind the fins on the cover for clearance of the panhard bar.

Any and all help is appreciated.

They have a PDF file on that website that shows the dimensions and they show 3.25 (assuming inches) depth from the diff flange. The only way you're going to be safe is to measure the distance between the diff flange and panhard bar at it's closest. When I bought a girdle, I put the truck on jackstands under the axles so the suspension was compressed and measured. I had very little extra room with the Spohn so I chose the lesser of 2 evils and swapped out the panhard for a QA1 5262 which has a bend around the diff so there's room for fins or girdles. I doubt you have much room at all with the Spohn..

I figured as much but thought I would ask... perhaps just trimming/grinding a fin or two would suffice.

Gale Banks has been running some tests on differential covers. He's concerned that those high capacity covers disrupt the flow of fluid and I think he's right. On his third video, he had a clear diff cover made in the stock shape so we could see how the fluid flows at differing speeds.

I saw some clear covers as well.

It sounds like a cool video... got a link?

I don't really care so much about added capacity, the one I posted is only an extra .5qt.

My reasoning was simply to have a drain plug. All the stamped steel ones I have seen either don't have a drain or are chrome plated.

Any other recommendations are welcome.

So here is another question that perhaps no one knows an answer to...

Would a diff cover for a front 10 bolt axle bolt up to the rear axle and possibly give more clearance than a rear Cover???

Also I found this company...
http://purplecranium.com/i-6629370-chevy-10-bolt-chrome-differential-cover-2001-present.html

They take a standard steel cover and stamp a flat spot on the cover for a fill plug and a separate spot for a drain plug and then weld a bung onto them for the plugs to screw into.

I could get this cover with a magnetic drain plug and black crinkle finish for about $60.

I spoke with them and they couldn't guarantee me that this cover would work with the G80 locker 8.6 rear axle as they have no experience with it.

My best guess is this would fit without any issues but would like to hear other opinions.

I would really like to have an aluminum cover simply for better heat dissipation but with the Spoohn adjustable panhard bar it severely limits the clearance.
