Let me start by saying I have been around for awhile but this is my first post. I have a 2001 Suburban 4x4 with a 5.3. The front driverside axel is leaking. Here is my problem with this. I changed the seal which is easy but a week later it begain leaking again. So I naturaly thought WTF and I must have messed it up installing the seal. So changed it again, fast foward 2 weeks and it started leaking again. I replaced both sides at the same time and the other side is not leaking at all. I crawled under the truck and you can push and move the driver side stub axel that is in the diff up and down. The other side does not have play like the driver side. Drained the oil in the diff and had the normal medal sludge on the plug but then the light hit the oil and it looked like I was panning for gold. The front has no diff nosie that you would expect from it starting to fail. Qustiones can I get away with just a overhaul with out new gears or do I do a complet rebuild with new gears. Or is it just a bearing on the driver side axel going out and I only need to change that. Any help please!!
