I had an alternator shop tell me that I could only use a 105 amp or 130 amp altenator on my 2000 yukon. He said a 145 amp wont work with the computor in my truck. Does anyone really know?

ya, jenn, do you remember who it was? I remembered you asked him what he had before cos you thought they came with 145 or something. i can't imagine how the alternator would affect the comp.

Go to a shop that actually knows what they're doing. It doesn't matter how many amps your alternator is capable of supplying above the original rating. The important thing is that is big enough to supply the needed current to all the electronics in the vehicle and the voltage is regulated between a set low and high point, roughly 13.8 to 14.6vdc.
