Does new Y pipe mean new cats?

Dealer told me my check engine light is partly due to bad y pipe. Been trying to research and I see Y pipes only and I see Y pipes with Catalytic converters. They didn't really elaborate when I picked up the vehicle as I was getting something different done and didn't pay for a full diagnostic. Just wondering if it's a basic fix or an expensive fix. So is in general terms is it just the Y pipe or Y pipe plus the portion with the cats?

There are Y-pipes that have the cats in them and "Off-Road" Y-pipes that don't.

IIRC, Magnaflow makes a hi-flow replacement with the cats.

What code did they pull? I had the p0420 and indeed needed the bank 1 cat replaced. Since we got 170k miles on these original cats, figured I'd change both now rather than have an exhaust shop just cut out & replace one, then have to take time off later to do the other. Dealer quoted $1600 for y pipe (OEM-with cats) replacement FYI.

That's WAY too much! One reason why I won't have a dealer do any work on my vehicle unless it's a factory recall, etc.
IIRC, the magnaflow Y-pipe with cats was around $350.00 to $400.00. Any decent muffler shop could install that for not much more...
