dome override heating up

its prolly here somwere but i couldnt find anything on it so i thought id ask.. about 3 weeks ago i was on a road trip.. i left my house pretty early and i was about 2 hours down the raod and the sun still wasnt up so my headlights were still on(hid 6000ks) i dont reamember why but i went to move the button that rolls up and down to dim ur dash lights and notices that it was really hot around that area.. could it have anything to do with my hids? also the next day when i arrived to phx my battery was complety dead.. this is a 2002 tahoe lt

That area gets pretty hot in general. Mine got hot both before and after I had HIDs. Wouldnt worry about the heat too much. Dont know about your battery though. What kind of battery?

it was a titanium or sumthing.. i replaced it with a everstart max.. the titanuim had better specs but it was about 6 years old already

You most likely have the headlight/dimmer switch module that has a backlight in it. GM has since redesigned that part to have no backlight anymore. I imagine they discontinued this due to the heating issue. Not positive on that one but its my best guess.

Didnt know they offered different/redesigned ones. might come in handy if mine ever goes out
