yes it can be done. a little cutting. you can get a 03+ dash bezel so you dont have to cut your stock one. a little moving of the ac controls.

+1. Did it on my 01 Z71 and put a pioneer DD in it. Had to get the new dash like trick said, but my AC controls had a 1" gap where it was from the factory, so it has to be moved up to fit in the 03+ nbs dash.

is it straight forward to move them up?? I'd like to but a DD radio in here...

Damit - I KNEW I should have held out for the 03 lol... But the price was right on this thing.

that i dont remember. Might have to move it left some as well. Its been a while since i did mine.

i dont think the bezels are that expensive.

^x2 works great ive done it to a bubby of mine yukon and ill be doing it to my 02 xl soon as well. You should try it out its less money spend verses buying a newer bezel and dd cage off a 03-06. Gl

I did it to my hoe about a month ago. I cut some 1/4" mdf to mount to the DD and modified my original dash face and the cage.

That's my finished result, ended up cutting the "bar" under the DD and moved it down about 1/2" and epoxy it back together. Used some adhesion promotor primer and 3 coats of krylon fusion gray and 3 coats of clear.(going to refinish it and make it look "cleaner")
