Has anyone ever done a double door to tailgate swap? I have a 99 Z71 2 door and I would like to switch it over to a tailgate. On the trails its just easyer to get to things and gives me a table or seat. if no one has, how hard do you thing it would be to do it?

It's been discussed on here before and we came to the conclusion it would be a TON of work, money, and wouldn't really be worth it. I feel your pain though, I hate my barn doors.

if you want the tailgate, trade someone trucks. not worth the time and effort, and if you didn't get it perfectly sealed it will just pull the exhaust into the cabin.

along with rain and create a lot of noise from the wind coming in. This would be a pretty difficult mod to get 100% correct. If even off by a smudge it could get bad!

I personally LOVE my barn doors. I am soooo happy I never opted for the tailgate. Only gets in the way when your trying to load things in the back and what not. I can't tell you how many times I have come close to or railed my junk on a tailgate before. Never again. LOL The only thing I don't like is there is no internior release handle back there. Comes in handy when you need to roll out the sleeping bag and take a snooze back there.

in my 99 Denali what I didn't like about the rear tailgate was when it came time to loading stuff into the back. The tailgate often times got in the way so in those time I wished I'd had the barn door however the tailgate looks much better from a cosmetic stand point. On the NBS and newer rigs, though, the rear gate is MUCH better with the hole assembly swinging up and out of the way.
