So I was talking to my mechanic today and he told me that GM had two types of drive shafts for a 99 tahoe. One aluminum the one steel with a coating? Googling it and won't get to the truck until the morning. It's my father-in-laws truck. He says he's been here and talked to you guys before. This is a continuation of a problem.
He says he has a bad vibration, an alignment shop told him that too, also told him to change some suspension components before the alignment. He already changed u joints, took shaft back out Saturday to change rear trans seal, and now the vibration. He's changing a u-joint again because a cap fell off of it and he thinks he damaged it. He also dropped the shaft during the initial removal of the original u-joints. Either way next time we run into that horrible situation, well I didn't know how bad it was til later I was fresh outta surgery, I'll just get the keys to my gramps shop and get a real press.
Long story short. I was told the shaft that is coated may have had the coating shatter when it was dropped? Did I confuse him with a NBS Tahoe and not the OBS?
