Hey everyone, I'm new here and I have finally purchased a 97' Tahoe. Its been a long time coming for me. I have tried searching for my problems but couldn't find what I am looking for. Anyway, I have two issues that I would like some guidance on. The one I want to look at now is my drivers door.

When I purchased it a few weeks ago, everytime I shift the transmission into drive, the doors automatically lock. Then when I shift it into park, they unlock. I believe that it is supposed to work this way, for obvious reason. However, now, my driver side door doesnt open from the inside and I noticed this the same time I noticed that the locks wouldn't engage when in drive. All the locks work fine otherwise, but I just can't open my door. Does anyone have any ides? Is there a relay somewhere that could be flaky?

Thanks so much!

Well, I tore off the door panel and found that the rod that connects the two handles came off. Easy fix!

Does anyone know if the 97 Tahoe is supposed to lock automatically when you start the car or put it in gear? I hope this isnt a stupid question.....

if the tahoe is equipped with an aftermarket security system then the locks will engage when put into gear, and disengage when the engine is shut off
