So my tread on my '15 Tahoe LT is on its last leg. I've been wanting to upgrade to 22" wheels since I got it last year but this will give me an excuse to bite the bullet. The question for those of you who have bought new tires and/or wheels - what did you do about the spare? Do I need to get 5 tires and wheels? Honestly clueless on this, all of my prior vehicles with full size spares have been leases or I have sold before needing to get new tires.

Thanks.

You can get the actual specific spec diameter of the 22" tire you plan on running and get a 5th tire that fits on your spare stock rim that has the same diameter spec or close to it. That will make it safe on the drivetrain and safe to drive to a local tire shop or back home. If the tire is smaller or larger diameter it can make the vehicle handle in an unsafe fashion. Also if its 4wd or you just need to put the spare on the rear it will put extra strain on the differential as one tire is trying to spin at a different speed than the other. So either follow jdpber and have it towed any time you get a flat or get a tire that matches the diameter of the 22 your going to run and your set.
