Hello, I am new to the forum and have a question. I have seen similar posts to this one but couldn't determine an answer with my situation. I have a 07 Tahoe LS with the factory CD player and purchased a used DVD/Nav off ebay (GM part number 25894202) I was told by the ebay seller I needed a Bose amp as well. So I purchased that too (part number 15186661) I thought that the only thing else I needed was a GPS antenna until I talked to my local dealership here in Pittsburgh, PA. They said they have never done an upgrade from a factory CD player and didn't think it was compatible with my vehicle. I can give my VIN if it helps any tech guys on here. Anyone please help, I hope I didn't waste money on these items. Or if anyone knows someone local to me that has some expirence with this with be great. Thanks to all in advance.

your ls tahoe will work just fine with the oem dvd nav. i suggest you send that pos bose amp back and get a way better amp for the money. you can install the nav without an amp and everything will work. (after it gets unlocked for your vin about 75 bucks or so at your stearlership) however all of your sounds will be really really low. you wont be able to your door chime low fuel chime turn signals onstar and voice guidance. also your radio volume will be low. really low. if you go to an audio shop and tell them what you want to do (i e my stock speakers to be louder) they will install the little 500 watt amp or whatever is you like and eveyrthing will be back to normal again as far as sound goes. you dont need the bose amp or bose speakers or bose wiring. the only reason people say that is because the navigation unit doesnt have a built in amp like the am fm cd player does that is why the nav units only come in bose equipped trucks from the factory.

UPDATE.....UPDATE.....UPDATE..........

Today I talked with Scott at Schram Auto Parts (probably the largest reseller of OEM Nav radios). I was going to see about trading with some cash a OEM Nav radio Bose unit(25797978) for a (20792737) Non-Bose Nav radio when Scott informs me that the radio I have will work just fine. To explain further he said that in the Tech II program it just has to be selected as a non-Bose system. He took the time to look it up just to verify that what he was saying was right. He then went on to explain that the easiest way to do this is to find the same type vehicle as you have that has the Nav radio installed and get the VIN of that vehicle. The mechanic can then just enter that VIN and the radio will come right up for programming. Otherwise he advises calling around to dealerships and just explaining everything to the service advisor and see if they are equipped to take care of you. It may cost for the labor time but you will have a working Nav radio without amp and be able to adjust the volume and hear the turn signals and chimes.

Schram Auto has been talked about several other times in this forum in other threads. Just go the the search and type in Schram and you will get a list. What can I say, the guy could have done the switch with me and charged me the bucks and I wouldn't have been the wiser......for that kind of honesty I will sing their praises loud and long. You just don't find that kind of honesty much any more. If anyone needs a Nav radio call them and talk to Scott and let him know you learned about them from the forum.

BOOMER SOONER!

Hello,

I jut bought (20792737) Non-Bose Nav radio, base on your post then I read in other forum and find that this part number is for Acadia GMC and they said the light color for this device is red, I don't pay for the auction yet, I will call them tomorrow morning and check.

What do you think guys

Depends if the red is a "deal killer" to you. It's the color of a few indicator lights. If the radio is what you want and need then it's totally your decision if the color is a no go.
