SO My buddy found me a place here that does dyno tunes. What are the pros and cons vs a BB cable tune??? I wanna get both the yukon and vette tuned (Vette re tuned) But am not sure here. Va speed is the name of the place and they can get it done next week. THey are doing a bunch of work to the vette (Replacing the crappy headers that have rusted out for Kooks LT headers, High flow cats, A more agressive Cam, Ram air intake, injectors and heads (engine heads). They will also tune for free if I do all that, and its a full dyno tune.

They will also tune my yukon for 350 dollars. The yukon is stock, will it be more benefical for a BB cable tune or Dyno tune. It would be really nice to see what power the yukon is putting down, but IDK which is better.

thanks for the advice.

have them do it and post dyno charts before and after, id like to see real-world gains

for the vette??? I sold the magnacharger on craigs list last week and its paying for abotu 80% of these mods. I honestly am turned off of super chargers for a while, This thing has caused me so much trouble latly I was glad to get rid of it. If I want more power out of the silverado I think I will just put a crate motor in with bolt on stuff instead of forced induction. I should be right around 500 HP RWHP with the bolt ons, in the vette.

But if you mean the yukon, im still leaning more towards a bb tune. But the instant gratification is a plus. Down side is BB tunes are free to retune, the local place wants 100 bucks more to retune.

Since I posted my answer on the other site, I may as well post it here as well:

There are a few things you need to ask a shop before they dyno tune your vehicle:

-what type of dyno
-is it continuous or pulls
-will they lock your PCM

We are not fans of the DynoJet dynos, and would suggest a load bearing inertia dyno for a better idea of numbers. One can not tune a vehicle in just 2-3 pulls (which is what most shops do).

Justin has dyno developed all his tunes on a DynoDynamics and and Dynamometer dyno (more expensive dynos, so most shops won't go out and get them). But they are extremely reliable numbers with real world comparison. The DynoJets have a 20% inflation on their numbers (also a good way for shops to make customers think they are getting higher HP numbers).

Dynos are good for WOT development, but to be sure that everything is nailed down you should have tuner goes out on the road to make sure that all the transmission shift points are good.

Hopefully that answers your questions.
