Ive read all over the internet about doing an electric fan conversion on my 02 yukon 5.3 but i still have some questions... I dont have a BB tune yet im waiting till I get all of my upgrades on before I order it because im too far for an in person tune. So.. I found a set of fans with all of the wires and relays required for instalation on ebay for 240. Here is the link... http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ff...ynamics&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313.

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket fans and the thermostat controller that you install in between the fins on the radiator? I sell cars for a living and I can get a factory fan for 100 bucks, so im trying to decide to stay with factory equipment or aftermarket and if I go witht the factory set up should I just go buy an electric fan switch until I get my BB tune. The aftermarket fans are rated at 3000 CFM each.

I have the Flex-a-lite 280 kit on my truck. They are amazing! i love them. The kit was complete and very easy to put on. i say if you can get factory stuff though for that cheap then do that. i was gunna go with a fan so i could keep my factory shroud but it was gunna be to much...

I think AtomicHoe had that type of controller, I've never been a fan of them ... I perfer the sensor in the head.

LOL "fan" pun not intended.

Considering you can get OEM fans, Go ahead and buy a BBT or nelson harness. aswell as the thermo switch below.

Use the thermo switch below to complete the Ground (the trigger wire that plugs into ECU) as temp until you get your tune...

Fan Switch, Thermostatic, Radiator Probe, Adjustable 32-240 Degrees F, Kit 22.95$
Next to a sensor in the head this is the best you will get, its highly dependable, I have never had one fail..

This will be simplest system to install and get you rdy for your tune...

I would go with the factory fans. I did, and they work great.

See my install thread here: http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28336 Look at how I wired mine. You will have to do it the same way on a 2002. Either make your own harness, get one from Nelson or Blackbear, or get an OEM one like I did. For the low speed trigger, I would either wire it to a switch or get an aftermarket temp controller (like Ezdaar suggested) until you get your tune.
