OK, ineed help with this one.....when i unplug my egr valve the skip goes away...when hook up it skips and seems starved for fuel,almost cuts off when you back it down,this is with aload on it,in drive holding brakes,,,told was egr valve,sits on d.s.of motor looks like small vac pump...or herd it called a heat riser???? why does it skip tho..have no clue on this one,,sure miss old school sometimes,,,feel stupid cant figure this simple stuff out....thanks Crow p.s. replaced intake gasket running fine 180 to 210...dummy put on backwards,holes blocked... 95 2door 4x4 5.7 yukon. sle

The egr on these things is computer controlled, and any signal opens it tiny fractions, but as they age carbon builds up and gums the valve, making it stay open more than it should. When you unplug it, there is no signal so it shuts, and stopping the stumble. My Yukon had the exact same issue, but I just blocked the egr since I didn't want to pay the $150 for a new one.

The stumble is from exhaust gases getting into the motor from the stuck valve, choking the engine and killing your motor. Replace or block off and life will be grand.
