Just for grins and poopies, I looked up all the RPO codes for my Tahoe the other day and noticed that one of them was L59. As far as I could learn this was flex fuel 5.3, BUT there is no badging or labels around the fuel door to reflect that I can infact run E85.

I don't plan on running it, but I'm the type of person that likes answers to questions. From everything I have read, it doesnt seem like its worth it to run. Besides, there's 169,*** miles on the rig and I dont need to be dislodging gunk and clogging everything up.

So what do I have here?

I would stay away from E85, I've heard too much about it to generalize thats its a total waste..

the only place on the truck where it will say about fuel will be on the inside of the fuel door right above where you hang the fuel cap cable. my 02 tahoe ran like crap on it the first time I ran it with 115000 on it but the fuel filter and plugs were old, so i changed out the fuel filter and I am doing the plugs and wires tonight. I am going to fill up with e85 tomorrow and see how it goes.

Is your gas cap yellow.

If you really are flex-fuel capable you should have a yellow fuel cap.

And I agree with the others, it's not worth it, at least from a financial perspective.

I know a few farmers that make their own ethanol and it's a different story for them. Just like those that make their own bio diesel.

i get it once in awhile. But now gas and e85 in my area is almost the same price. For about 5 bucks more of reugalr gas on fillup can get me 100 more miles at least. So E85 isnt really worth it imo

I don't have any badging or yellow caps on mine and it is a flex... just the RPO code.

E85 isn't worth it to you unless you race... which I'm sure you don't race your truck.

I only put E85 in mine when I am racing at a shootout because you actually get worse fuel mileage.
