TYF Newbie
Hey!
Just wanted to say hello and sort of introduce myself!
Picked up a '04 Tahoe LT a couple days ago after wanting one for several years.
Background: As you can see I live in Norway, and what has been holding me back is the tax rules for cars this size. When these cars were new, they got the GVWR raised from about 3050 kg to 3560 kg, which made it possible to get a title as a "light commercial vehicle" - which are exempt from registration taxes. Now, all vehicles over 3500 kg GVWR have to pay around 3x normal price at toll booths (same rate as a 18-wheeler!), which we have everywhere, and there are quite a few other drawbacks as well. Now the road authorities have loosened up the system a little, so these cars can get their GVWR back down below 3500 kg after 10 years. My car is 10 years in May 2014, so it's not that far away.
The car is a 2004 Tahoe LT 5.3. Like all export models, it is the regular 5.3, not the flexfuel one (too bad, but..). Due to gas prices at $2.50/liter (like $9/gallon), it has been converted to run on LPG as well, which makes it affordable to drive.
Black with tan interior - power "everything", Bose and pretty well-equipped. It runs good and has had only two owners.
So far I have no big plans, only a couple small ones:
* Give the car a thorough outside and inside detailing.
* Replace the turn/DRL lights on both sides, as they have moisture inside.
* New winter tires on the factory rims. (not shown on pic)
* Replace the front middle seat with the center console.
* Change all fluids and filters.
* Install an AUX-socket to connect a MP3 player to the factory radio (possible?) or replace it with a more modern one with BT and DAB.
