My taillight/brakelights were not working so I checked the bulbs and found a couple were burned out and their respective sockets were melted also. I bought new light panels and bulbs and installed them today. Now I have no taillights, brakelights or back up lights. The hazards work and the directionals blink but very fast. If I press the brakes with the directionals on they work but the third brake light flashes like a directional. I've checked all the fuses under the hood and in the dash. All good. Could this be a bad ground somewhere? Need some help here please.

that or something is mis-wired something if the CHMSL blinks like a directional.

I've had the truck for 6 years now and no one has ever touched the wiring. Is the CHMSL also a running light? or just a third brake light? Because mine comes on with the headlights even thou the taillights do not.

Okay. Found the culprit. It was a ground. I crawled under the back and started checking the wires for any damage. Followed one to a frame rail and found the bolt rusted and loose. Relocated the wire to a different spot with a new bolt and now everything is working as it should. I guess the current was grounding through the CHMSL? or the turn signal relay? IDK but I'm glad to have this fixed.
