2008 Tahoe LTZ with nav, onstart, etc:

Shortly after purchasing our Tahoe with 38k on the odometer, we started noticing little annoying electrical gremlins. Service 4WD and Hood Open indicators would pop up every few weeks for no reason and then go away with restart. Oddest of all, there have been a few times where in the middle of the night in our garage, the alarm will go off for no reason.

Also, a few times when we started the Tahoe, the motor that lowers the liftgate would make a LOUD noise as if it was trying to close the rear liftgate that was already closed. It was loud enough that people in parking lots would turn around to see what was making the awful noise. Only happened a few times though.

After having the car a month we got the recall for the heated windshield washer fluid recall. The service manager told us that could affect other electrical systems and could be causing these annoyances. They fixed the recall, but all of the issues have occurred again. (The liftgate issue has NOT happened since the recall was fixed.) The alarm has only happened once since. The others are about once a month for service 4WD and once every other week for hood open. They always go away and often while driving they go away without having to restart. It's just annoying to haev a nice vehicle doing odd things like this.

Has anyone else had these issues?

Also, around 68 mph there's a quiet moan from the front end. It starts around 68 and goes away at 70mph. It's very quiet, but noticeable. Sounds like a bearing to me, but I'm wondering if it could be the brake rotors. The vehicle came from the great lakes area and does have a slight ring of rust around the front rotors so perhaps it's hitting a sweet spot at that speed and moaning. I would rather it be that than a front differential bearing. What do y'all think?

By the way, we LOVE this vehicle. These are all minor annoyances that prevent it from otherwise being perfect.

Had something simular early on with mine. My problem was different because I was having battery problems (5) but that got resolved. In the mist of trying to get to the bottom of the battery problem while in the shop for number 3 the tech said he found a "loose buss bar connection" and he tightened it. Since that time I have had no simular problems to yours. Can't say if that was it but for you it's certainly worth a try.

Also check if your car has ever been in an accident, maybe when they put it back together the hood sensor etc wasnt properly installed or tightened.

Maybe you have already done this, but clean and tighten your battery cable connections. Lot of weird things can happen if connection isn't 100%.

I had a similar problem on a Mustang I owned back in the 90's. Once, while going down teh freeway on a 3hr trip up north my trunk would pop, horn would honk, interior and parking lights would flash and the horn would even honk. Yeah, I got the finger a lot on that road trip. I finally go so PO'd I went into the trunk and ripped out the whole valet system. Turns out (After $500 in diagnostic fees) it was a loose cap on a fuse/wire box in the front kick panel. They had taken out an alarm the original owner had put in it (cheap SOB) and didn't tighten the bolt back down. The whole "box" was basically a giant scotch-lok. Maybe this is similar to the buss bar an earlier poster mentioned.

I went back and re-read your original post several times. I will ask because so much of what you have said seems to point here....when you are under the dash looking at all the wiring and support members; do any of them have a "film" or coating on them?

Also the moan could possibly be a carrier bearing. Have you spent anytime under the vehicle just grabbing and trying to shake things? Being that the vehicle came from an area of extremely high salt usage I would take my time with a strong light and do a thorough inspection and look for signs of rust or corrosion. As I mentioned in my earlier post the corrosion factor inside plugs can play havoc with your systems.
