what does the third wire do?You can leave the third wire unhooked. The OEM glass is ridiculously expensive in all variations (up to $300) and you can find aftermarket glass for cheap but you take a chance on it having a funhouse effect and sometimes it takes a couple before one looks right. The good news is most sellers will accept returns if the reflection looks bad. Look carefully at reviews.
The third wire is what powers the auto dim feature. It’s tied into the center view auto dimming mirror inside the truck. mark is right, the replacement glass that’s the the correct ones are pricey. I spent like $160 on my drivers side glass replacement. What

I got lucky and mine doesn’t have any weirdness in the glass. Lol.Yes, it’s the “monochromatic” feature, aka auto dimming. I think I paid about $40 for mine with heater and turn signals for my 08 but it took 2-3 exchanges with the seller before one wasn’t distorted. The OEM ones with turn signals, heat and auto dimming are close to $300.
