There is a thread somewhere on here I think its called "everything you ever wanted to know about LQ9" or something like that. I just paid $1,200 for an 03 6.0 with 55K I'll find out how true that is once I tear it apart and look at the internals. I've found others around the $1K mark. The 6.0's are a hot ticket rite now for muscle car builders taking the engine and tranny and dropping it in. From my research on summitt Racing and Rockauto.com you would be looking around another $1,000 to put almost all new internals in (bearings, cam, oil pump, time chain, etc.) I'm 99% sure the 02's ran a higher compression than the 3/4 trucks (LQ4 engine). I think it was due to a flat top piston instead of a dished piston in trucks. What broke on the engine??? You may be further ahead rebuilding that one... Just a thought and depends on your knowlede/experiance level.

Yes, ANY GenIII engine will fit. 4.8/5.3/LS1/6.0 without any modification.

Now, as mentioned. It has a LQ9. Which is flat top pistons. You'll lose maybe 20hp With a LQ4. But still have more grunt than a 5.3.

There are a few minor things that need changed. If you swap to a 5.3/4.8 your exhaust manf. will be slightly diff but 95% is plug and play

thanks guy for the advise. well from what my sister told me she was driving down the highway about 80mph then out of nowhere the enging started losing power. she couldnt hold speed. i drove the truck to a shop with lots of caution. shop said she must of overheated the truck and now cracked the the block inside.

what i did notice rpms would drop and then rev back up while in park. also while i drove it rpms will drop so low the engine would die once i let off the gas. enigne sounds horrible like a muffler with holes in it screaming Putt putt. one last thing under the oil cap a little bit of smoke comes out.
