Just put remanufactured 5.7L Vortec into a 97 Tahoe. Engine is cranking but the ENG I fuse blows as soon as you turn the ignition on. The fuse that is blowing is getting 1.2 volts with the ignition on. It's the same volts as everything else in the box. Where should I go from here? I've looked at the harness and nothing looks damaged. Where is the VCM and is that where it's getting it's power? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Double check all the connections on the wiring harness. Make sure the plugs are in the correct holes and seated all the way in the ECM. Also check the individual plugs on the ECM to make sure all the pins on the cinch connectors are clean and straight.

Also check for pinched or cut marks on the harness. I assume you are using the same ECM for the new engine.

Any additional wiring done during the engine install?

Ok I will double check all connectors and the harness. There was no additional wiring done during the install and yes it is the same ECM. I was just kind of hoping that someone had this problem before like it was just 2 sensors crossed or something.
