Hello!, i want to start by saying its wonderful to be a part of this community if only i knew such a forum existed before, ive been going through topics and learning quite a bit.

Down to the question!. I've recently purchashed a 2006 yukon denali and ive been trying to restore it back to full health!. My heart lies in this model / shape. before they changed it in 2007 and again somewhere recently. Anyways, I would like to replace the engine, Its done +285,000 Kms & its slowly slipping away. All i know is its a 6.0Liter V8 VIN U Engine.

What i'm confused is, What kind of engine is it? Is it an Lq4?, An LS Engine?, Gen 3 or 4?. is the Cubic measurements 364?. Any other ideas of what upgrades i could get? or what i can fit in a 2006 Yukon Denali?.

If so i would like to import an engine any recommended good places you guys have done engine replacements, I would like a remanufactured engine and transmission since the tranny is also died twice. Could anybody tell me a good place i can order and buy and if they'll ship internationally?. I currently live in Dubai. Or if there are companies that can pick up an engine in a crate or container and deliver it to me. I'm so lost on this. I would really appreciate it if somebody could teach me, i'd be so grateful i'll send you a goodie basket even really!.

Thank you very much in advance!.

I'll send some pics of the car and the work i've already put in to it.

Open the glove box and find the manufacterer option codes label. It's listed in alphabetical order. LQ4 or LQ9 listed?

Long block? short block? Crate? If you have the money buy a crate engine from Summit.

Long block is basically a complete engine with heads and sometimes with some sheet metal. Short block is just the block with crank, pistons etc. I just dropped a remanufactured lq4 in my Denali a couple months ago. I looked at prices and reviews everywhere and went with a company on the East coast of the US called ProMar. A friend bought one from them a few years ago so I decided to. 3 year unlimited milage warranty. You could call them and ask. Prices are decent compared to some. It's hard to find a replacement lq4. A lot of places don't carry them compared to the 5.3.

I also am looking into a remanufactured transmission. Is there a difference between a 4L60E & 4L65E? Or which one does the 2006 denali use?. I can't find a clear explanation on the web.

Ohh wonderful then I'll place an order for that. So far I'm thinking of running with Promar engines since I've hardly found any negative reviews and with your experience as well. Going to chat with them later today. Thank you really. I'll be updating this post with as much infor and pictures as I can for those going down the same road. You guys are truly helpful!!.
