So just today my '96 Tahoe, 5.7 will start and die if it's been sitting for more than 10-15 minutes. The second attempt it'll fire right off like normal. Will start right away if it's only been off a few minutes. No fault codes.

On VW's there's check valve built into the fuel pump to hold residual fuel pressure to aid in restarts. Anyone know if GM pump function the same way?

I put a new fuel filter on it two days ago. Pump is of unknown age. Not real loud yet

The fuel pressure regulator is under the intake plenum and will sometimes leak down and leak fuel into the intake. The spider injector poppets can also leak, but usually just cause it to run like crap. Both can be fixed but upgrading to the MPFI system. Don't know if thats causing your problem. There is a shrader valve on the fuel line under the hood to check pressure.

Yeah, thank goodness for that valve. I'm gonna check fuel pressure Monday.

Thanks!
