Factory 6.2 y pipe is definitely larger than the 5.3 one right? I am talking where the pipes meet the manifold. The 5.3 is soooooo narrow doesn't even look like 2.5

We share this problem. I keep on trying with the Borla cats as Swath above recommends with little help from the Borla company. The big problem with my 6.2 combo is with the addition of the Whipple this problem is getting larger. The SC's respond better with a freer flowing exhaust. And the SC will make the exhaust much louder.

Guys.. I know this is an old thread. For a year I'm knocking around a fantastic 5.3 rebuild or a 6.2 Swap. I have a 2012 Yukon XL with the LC9. It's super clean, lifted, and I'll drive it toll it's dead.

I have 251613 miles on it. Just replaced the 6L80 trans about 5000 miles ago.

After reading this I want to do the swap. I want this plug and play magic your talking about. I'm going to buy a rebuilt crate motor and add the most recommended upgrades.

Towing cam, AFM/DOD delete, etc.

My question is what engine code makes the swap the smoothest. LC9 to ???.

Does the intake and fuel injection also swap over so easy.

My 5.3 is in tip top shape. I don't burn or leak oil, no smoke, smooth idle, runs perfect. But the mileage is what has me being realistic about how much longer this will last.

I believe your best bet will be the L94. Your LC9 has Flex Fuel, VVT and AFM and the L94 has those all also. Should be a pretty straightforward swap. The intake and injectors will be different, however. Should be able to find a set readily on car-part.com.

As for your existing 5.3, it's not uncommon to see them go 400k.
