I’m trying to determine if there is something wrong with my 21 Denali. When I have my travel trailer hooked up and I try to raise the air suspension to help disconnect the WD hitch, the height above normal is grayed out. When I select it it says, excessive vehicle loading height not available or something very close to that.

My travel trailer weighs about 7K pounds. I know I’m approach the max, but I should be under, especially when it’s unloaded.

Has any experienced this? Is it that my air suspension isn’t working right or is it that it can take there is a heavy load and won’t allow certain ride heights and it’s working as expected?

That level isnt allowed when the vehicle is in tow mode. Put it in normal and you can toggle between all the levels

No Duramax, just the 6.2. The 6.2 pulls great. You can definitely tell it’s back their, but it’s manageable if you keep your speed below 70.

I tried taking it out of tow haul mode and I still had the same behavior.

It is very likely that based on height and pressure in the suspension, it can calculate the hitch weight and might lock out the feature over a certain weight to protect the suspension.

I’m hoping this is the case. Either way, this is a big boy to be towing behind the yukon. I know it’s within it’s technical ratings by a margin, but it’s still at the top end.

It’s likely sensing tongue weight on the rear suspension. Keep in mind that “tow ratings” are just a marketing number. You should have a yellow sticker in the driver door jam that gives a specific cargo carrying capacity that your vehicle (with its options) can legally carry. From that number, subtract the weight of all occupants in the vehicle and gear as well as the actual tongue weight of your trailer. That’s really the only true way to determine if your tow vehicle is overloaded or not. There’s also axle weight ratings but you mentioned a WDH so you should be good there. Maybe you need higher rated spring bars. Hope that’s helpful. I’m not trying to be the weight police just hopefully helping you determine if it’s truly overloaded or if it’s a problem with the rig. Hope you figure it out.
