So im trying to slap on a magnaflow muffler sometime this week. i talked to a guy at a local performance shop and he told me he wouldnt have to change the piping stating that the stock 07 tahoe piping is already 3.25in. is that true? also, i want the mean rumbling sound, will the diameter of the piping play a role in that? and lastly, if i take the resonater off, will it be too loud? any advice would be great. thx guys!

Piping is 2.75" in diameter and the bigger the piping the louder the exhaust.
Take the resonator off or with a Magnaflow you will sound just like stock.

There are no power gains from replacing the pipes unless you have many more supporting mods like an SC. A good muffler like a Magnuflow or Borla or any non baffled stainless muffler
(not Flowmaster or Gibson) will do you just fine.
