So I'm planning on ****** bbk headers. My question is upgrading the y pipe necessary? Or would just putting in high flow cats and a high flow muffler? From what I've seen of the exhaust is the main area of restrictions is the nanifolds. Anyone care to enlighten me lol

If you think they are crappy then why are you wasting the money?

The exhaust manifolds might be restrictive, but you will see very minimal gains with equal length headers. To obtain significant gains, you should run long tubes. They are about $450 for the headers and the ypipe (pacesetter, LPP).

Is your other question asking about adding high flow cats and muffler in combination with headers, or doing those instead of headers?

Basically I'm asking how necessary it is to replace the piping vs the components of the exhaust system. I understand the factory manifolds are the biggest restriction in the system. Where can I get that header y pipe set up for 450

^^his links. Note the pacesetter ypipe is catless. Some freak about this. You will need a tune to remove the CEL codes or you can make a dummy 02sensor.

or look at the LPP website. Looks like they are currently out of stock on our headers but they are in production.

The collector on headers is the most important part of the header.
As well as the merge on your Y pipe.

If the air doesn't merge together smoothly it a waste of time.

So yess the Y pipe plays a significant role in exhaust performance.
This Flowmaster merge is one of the best avalible.

.
I have bought and installed both of these on a few trucks and suv's now. Nevr had any problems, with fitment or sound quality.

Complete stainless header back exhaust under 800$ complete Bolt in and plug and play
A VERY good set of headers with a decent y pipe merge
Calspeed stainless
If your concerned about cats, install this then drive to a shop and have some high flow cats or OEM installed as well as rear O2 bungs if you want.

Very good and fits perfect.
