I have been in the market for a new (have GM card points) 2009 LT2 since about last NOV/DEC. The deals were very good on the 2008's at that time (could get an LT2 with pretty much no other options for ~32k). From the lack of incentives they have had on the 2009s thus far...I should have jumped at the 2008. Ended up wanting the 6spd transmission, so decided to wait on the 2009. Probably gonna end up being a big mistake.

Any idea / guess if GM will offer similar incentives/rebates on the 2009s at the end of the year as the 2010s roll in (or anytime earlier for that matter)? I am worried that with the lack of supply (production shutting down longer than normal this summer) that there won't be nearly the inventory on lots, and thus they won't have to give the massive incentives to clear them. Also, that would leave less of a chance to get the color / config I want. With production cutting way back, are the days of the great end of year deals gone?

The best I have got quoted for an LT2 so far this year has been $34.2k at then end of FEB. Thinking that the rebates would increase and I could do slightly better...I didn't jump on it. My original price point was ~$33k, but would jump at $34k now if could find the vehicle I am looking for.

Any thought, comments (other than, yeah....you're screwed :) ) would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Rob

It’s anyones guess at this point, I got a 2008 Denali in Jan. because I wanted the 6.2 6-speed. I originally wanted a tahoe but the deal wasn’t there for the 2009’s. After driving it for a while now, the only thing I notice with the 6-speed is it shifts more. I thought I would notice it getting to it’s power band quicker/better but I don’t

I got my 09 LT2 for $35k in April, that was during the total confidence program, which I think was well worth it. 09's are out there, I was at my dealer last week and they got 4 or 5 new Tahoe's in. I think if I went now, I'd be out of luck, as it would be out of my price range and would have had to wait for a 2010 Equinox (which is really nice) or a Traverse (which is nice, but not for me).

I sure hope they bring some type of program or offer to get customer's back. What color do you have in mind?

Looking for a Graystone metallic with the titanium leather interior and 2nd row bench. Not really interested in any other options.

The sad part is that I bought this EXACT same vehicle in NOV '07 after I sold my '96 Tahoe. I was an idiot and with gas prices rising...sold it in JUL '08. Luckily, I really didn't take a bit hit on the sale (bought for $32k - $3.5k GM card points...sold for $28k). Trust me...I have been kicking myself since about two months after I sold it. Bought an Audi A3 (let the jokes begin). I am fortunate to be in a position to afford gas at any but the highest prices..so am not gonna make that mistake again.

At any rate...I am going to get another Tahoe if the price gets down to more of a reasonable level. I still am surprised that you can't get one now anywhere near the price you could at the end of 2008...given the situation GM is in.

Oh well...here's to hoping.

Well,

I got a letter in the mail from the CEO of GM and it included the rebates they are offering on their vehicles. Sadly it was $1K on a Yukon or Tahoe which does not amount to beans. I'd wait a little bit. I bet end of the year they will drop. I bought my 08 Yukon SLT2 for $34K during the peak of gas prices. I don't miss the 6.0 or the 6spd to be honest. I tow a 4K boat with it without issue. I get 17.2MPG so I have no complaints. Of course, I only have 7,800 miles on it one year later. I test drove an 09 to see what the difference was, minimal for the cost difference. My only regret is I didn't check out the Escalade. I should have at least taken a gander at their prices at the time. All good though, I don't like all the wood grain.
