Moving to Florida, 6x12 U-haul which Ill tow fine, But do need towing mode

Well, I guess it depends on how you drive. If your not too heavy, tow/haul might not even be needed. Keep an eye on your trans temp, if it starts to creep up, drop it out of OD, slow down a few MPH and see what happens. Use an easy right foot too.

You really just don't want to have your motor do a bunch of lugging around and/or having your trans do a bunch of hunting for gears by excessive upshifting/downshifting to maintain a speed! When those conditions are happening, either slow a bit down or downshift a gear to keep the RPM's up!

Other than on flat stretches and steady speed, I ALWAYS am in tow mode.

The truck seems to shift just fine in order to avoid what Chris mentioned above. At steady speed on flat stretches of Freeway, I turn the tow mode off and let the truck plus trailer just cruise along.

This technique has always worked well for me.

I towed the same trailer about 600 miles. It was loaded pretty heavy and I also had my 500lbs stereo in at the time. That was over a mountain pass and TX hill country. Just take it easy, use tow/haul for hills and whatnot and turn it off on flat ground. That's what I did and I did fine. My Trans temp never went above 160 but I have a really large cooler though.

I towed the same trailer packed to the max from Cape Cod down to Florida. I didn't really use the tow mode too often. I had the cruise set most of the trip and maintained probably a less than safe speed.

Cool, thanks for the advice !!! Ive towed in a Penske truck pulling a 1970 Dodge Super-Bee my bud sold on ebay... all the way to Corpus Cristie Tx. So Illl practice backing at an empty K-Mart lot nearby 1st.
