EXT Option in Climate Control?

Has anyone else noticed the EXT option in the upper left corner of the climate screen? You can see it on the display but I've never seen it lit up. I'm wondering how you're supposed to access this option because nothing seems to work and I don't think the manual ever mentions it. Im curious as to what it's supposed to do. Let me know if you have any ideas.

it's the exterior temperature in the Acadia. We share the same A/C controls
