Is there a way to convert the factory dd to play DVD's without adding a DVD player to it... Just slide movie in an watch

No. The head unit doesn't have video playback. Only data, which is what a navigation dvd is.

You can get something like a PAC VCI-GM2 adapter that will alow you to flip a switch and play video from a different source, but then you need an extra dvd player or if you have a factory flip down, you can grab the video from it.
