My stock radio/head unit took a frumpy... got real loud for a split second, then blanked out... no screen no audio nothing, all it does now is make a clicking sound every 6 seconds or so, sounds like a hard drive trying to boot up, or a disc reader cycling across its track... so i removed it and lightly took it apart to see if anything was obviously amiss, to no avail... so i dropped it off at a place called Specmo (when i worked at the dealership thats were we would send radios to for repair or swap) they informed me that it was a Delphi unit and that they are usually not serviceable, but they tried anyway, and no luck... they said their only other option now was their exchange program (basically send me a referb unit) for $1,600!!!!!
Does anyone know where i can pick these units up for any cheaper? Any salvage yards selling wrecked or locked units you guys know of? (Specmo said they felt bad and would unlock a unit for me for free if i came across one...).
My local car audio shop is pressing hard for me to get into this aftermarket unit... the Alpine X009-GM http://alpine-usa.com/product/view/gm-navigation-x009-gm , it almost seems like a "deal" when compared to the cost for replacing the stock unit... anyone on here rocking that setup? pros? cons? feedback?

open to suggestions and any help what so ever!!!

Go with a pioneer nex with the iDatalink maestro and the gmr2 harness and its basically the same thing at a fraction on the cost. I have the Pioneer 4200NEX and the biggest difference, imho, between the two is 2 inches of screen and the physical buttons of thr Alpine.

I love my 4200NEX assisted by the iDatalink maestro.

Contact Greg @ CPS Audio - he will get you hooked up. Ive bought several of the HD radios from him. Hes fair, and programs them so theyre plug and play. Yours will be cheaper than some because youre already wired for it.

Ive had the Alpine, I sold it on here months back for $1200. Its a very sick unit if you can get it for a good price. I was only really disappointed with the Bluetooth (phone) audio. Bluetooth for music worked flawless.
