I have had my 2013 Tahoe for 3 months now and just took it into the dealer for a radio issue. They say there is no issue. Say I have to turn off the Equalizer When I tune the factory radio to a XM station and set the volume all is good. I then turn it to a FM station and the volume is considerably louder. I have to turn down the volume. I get to play this volume game we I toggle from XM to FM. I have had 2 other Chevy's with a XM radio and never had this problem. Could someone please check their Tahoe and confirm I am not off track here.

I also notice sometimes when I start the Tahoe up the radio starts playing from the USB thumb drive.. of course this never happens for the dealer..

The good thing was I got to drive a 2015 Tahoe for a day.. nice and quiet.. but don't think I will spring the 70k for a new one!

Thanks,

I had similar issue but my loss of volume was due to driver side speakers not working with XM on. Dealer first changed the XM module and all was well. Then it happened again. The second fix was a new head unit. All was well again until it happened again! :-/ I took it back but the could not recreate the loss of volume so they sent me packing. I'm waiting for it to happen again and I'm going right to the dealer so they can document it.

After doing a little research on the forum I think the issue may be with the garbage OEM speakers. I haven't changed them out yet as it hasn't happened again so far but I'm also looking to install an aftermarket sound system.

Thanks but I do not think it is the speakers as the would be low on AM/FM/XM. We will see.

The only other thing they haven't changed out besides the speakers is the Bose amp.

Had my Tahoe checked at the dealer.. and surprise surprise nothing is wrong with the volume and they completely ignored the switching to USB upon start up.

My Silverado had no volume change from XM to Broadcast radio. The tech said to turn off the eq and it was closer to the same level. That is the solution! Wow.

No comment at all about the input change on start up. The input change seems to happen at least once a day. I was checking the Silverado/Sierra site and that issue has come up and it seems there is a problem with a bad usb cable connection.

Well back to the dealer for round 2, not too impressed with the customer service.

Hello Fatrusty,

I see that you mentioned you recently took your vehicle to the dealership for these concerns and my apologies if you had a poor experience. I'd be happy to reach out to your dealership on your behalf in regard to your concern with your USB. If you'd like my help, please reach out to me via PM here on the site.

Best,
