Flowmaster 40 to Magnaflow 22”?

Hello all,

Thinking of ditching my Flowmaster 40 series with dual tips for a Magnaflow 22”, I believe part #12589 for my 03’ Tahoe 4.8.

Was going to run a SS tip on passenger side buuuut when rims got stolen pretty sure tow truck dropped on cinder block or something [emoji34]. How do turndowns sound on suv and 22”? I have turndowns on my 01 Silverado 5.3 and praying tahoe will sound better lol.

Ehhh had it for 6 years or so, looking for something a little mellower. 2 kids and wifey don’t really care for the 40 with 3” tips lol.

Got the 18” MF and plan to do a single exit SS tip on passenger side.

I get it. I always heard the flowmaster 50 series was best for the suv and the inside sound. magnaflow is pretty tame aswell too tame for me. but I also have kids so I understand where you are coming from. turndowns create drone. magnaflow will probably be a good way to go tho. have you looked on youtube

I did this exact same swap a few years ago on my 08' seirra 5.3. Some time after I turned 30 my muffler preference flipped haha. Loved the magnaflow. Sounded nice at full throttle and could hear myself think when cruising.

You did the 40 to 22” or 18”?

Figured out I have the 18” but can’t be as bad as the 40 lol
