ordered some 880 fog lights, phillips brand, was very very dissapointed. looks like the same brightness as the ones i took out. I want the fog lights to be BRIGHT. the low beams i had put in were much brighter so i figured these would be good. I was thinking of HID for the fog lights. If i find the same bulb, 880, does it still need a special harness? whats the recommended wattage for the fog lights? anyone know?

These are what I replaced the stock fog light housings with. Just had to fab up a bracket to space them back about 1 1/2" into the hole, work great!

Of course, I also have this mounted in the grille:

I have 35w morimoto 6000k 880 hids. I baked the fog light and opened it up then i removed the chrome shroud. I heard from others who didnt remove it say the bulb hits the shroud and/or traps the heat and ruins the housing. The hid bulb is much longer than the normal halogen in which the housing was designed for. And yes it comes as a kit so you would need to hide the harness, but its all plug n play, no cutting or splicing.

Also @Fosscore installed pnp led bulbs (non kit, bulbs only) that look amazing and look to appear brighter than stock halogens.

Or pods like stated above

@BlueCollarTahoe

Here's the link to my 2006 build thread to see them installed.

Here's the link to the LUYED 880 LEDs on Amazon.
$15 Prime shipping.

Here's a link to my 2013 Suburban build thread with the same brand LUYED in those fogs just to show you another application if you don't feel like doing more than a PNP install.

Do you have any pictures of those lights in the daytime? I`ve been thinking about trying something like that but i`m hesitant to waste the money on the lights if i don`t like they way they look.

you guys are the best. the crappy replacerments i put in has been bothering me. it irks me when im dissapointed with something on my truck lol @Fosscore i think i will go with those. I just want a PNP i can replace and install easily and those look really good in the pics on that thread. I wont be driving with them on just use when needed. in the post i saw you write that it needs a retro. is that pertaining to the lights or something else in the build?

@BlueCollarTahoe

PNP is a winner and super bright competed to OEM. Unfortunately the housings don't allow as much as the LED bulbs want to give but much better than the halogen bulbs.

Get this Fleece Performance GM all on module.

http://fleeceperformance.com/electronics/gm-all-lights-on.html

Can flash those idiots with everything on with this easy install.

I need a retro for the headlights as everything else is upgraded and I keep get beaten up over it lol. It becomes relentless in here once you start modding. lol. Always more...but this is a very informative and forgiving place.

Here's what I did with mine when I said I removed the chrome reflector. Blocks so much light, removing it allows more output and retains stock look. Top light has reflector , bottom light the reflector is moved.

It takes time and patients but I'm telling you it sets 100% of the light free. Huge difference.
