So I found a good tunner local. I have talked to them and they were very happy to answer all my questions and help me with what I was looking to accomplish. It will be a dyno tune and a hp tunners tune from what I understand.

My question is what are somethings I should ask for or should know going into this. I have a good idea on what to ask for and what I need but don't want to miss somethings or miss out on something small that could be useful
Or some tricks and secrets that have been found for our trucks.
These guys do a lot of Vetts so they know LS motors but want to make sure they do a good job for a truck.

I too am in the same boat and posted a thread just like this. So far what i know I am getting for sure is torque management delete, speed limiter will be turned up, line pressure to trans will be increased to help firm up shifts, I am also gonna get him to tune the PCM so that when I get around to an Efan conversion the tuning is there for it installation is the only thing required, timing will get increased for me because I'm going with a 93 octane tune.

I will be back to my tuner in the future because I have other upgrades I plan to do (headers, and a cam)

I think I came across your thread just after I posted this one. I am leaving some of my torque management in cause I am doing the 6.0 swap and don't want to tear apart the new tranny I am putting also. But I will be boosting the line pressure for the shifts. Speed mine goes well above 100 mph. So I am good with that. I will be tuned for 93 also

Yeah i'm sticking with the 5.3 so I should be okay with my tranny its newly rebuilt with a hardened sunshell and vette servo so I think the line pressure will help it nicely. However if you put in a 4L80E I doubt you'll have any problems out of it. Mine does 98 thats it and thats where it hits the limiter

4l80 Proberly won't be on deck for this project but I would like to do it one day in something. The tranny I had rebuilt was already a rebuild and had about 80.000km. I sent it in to get new frictions and beef up the normal breakable a and to my suprise it was already done. I had a Vett servo installed and saved a ton of cash cause someone did it before me. I lucked out big time.

I really wanted a blackbear tune. I have been waiting for the dollar to come back up but its not, So I had to come up with plan B. It wasn't easy finding any tunner let alone a good one. I went through 15 different car guys and part stores in my area and finally found a guy who tunes Vettes, mustangs, doges and countless other vehicles but mainly Corvettes. after talking to these guys and telling them what I was doing and the parts I was using they fully understood what I was doing and wanted to accomplish. Thank GOD..... I was getting tired of telling these guys about the LQ9 swap and 4L65 swap and wanting it tuned. Beleave it or not two tuner shops said it couldn't be done!!!!! WTF, So I kept looking. It would have been so much easier if I could have got a BB tune, they are fully aware of these swaps and have done hundreds. After I get my tune done I will post who I am using and how I made out. I will promote them as long as the tune and service is good, that way if anyone in the Greater Toronto Area can save the hastle I had and use them.
