Driving home the other night with the windows down and I noticed a slight squeak coming from the front end. Didnt think much of it. Later that evening I made a sweeping right turn and noticed a popping noise and a thumping feeling from the front end. I jacked the truck up and did a shake down and that did not reveil anything.

I have been noticeing my traction control light flashing on and off when making turns and the ABS feeling in the break pedal. I went ahead and ordered a new hub for the passenger side becuase this is where the noise is most audible. I never had a CV shaft go bad on me so I am not sure what that would sound like. Any of you guys ever had these symptoms and am I on the right track?

Also, the t-case and front diff do not have any play and everything is tight when I rotate the tires off the ground. I also do not have any noise coming from the hub when rotating the tires off the ground.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hub bearing

Sounds like you have a bad hub bearing I would jack the front up and wiggle the wheel around you will surely find it also it is recommended to replace both at the same time that way they should have the same life expectency...

Yeah I did all that. After watching some youtube videos it seems like my CV joint is gone bad and I need to replace that as well. Going to pick one up from autozone and swap it over tonight. I figured since everything is already torn down might as well replace the hub since I already got it and had the traction control light and abs come on.

Also checked for up and down movement as well. Ball joint did not have a lot of play in them.

When you jack under the lower ball joint the jack cradle should be as close to the end of control arm as possible. Jack it up till the tire comes off the ground no more than 1"-2". Use a pry bar or any long handled tool and pry up and down at 6:00 on the bottom of the tire. You cannot get enough leverage by hand. Look for up and down play at the ball joints. Like to see none or no more than 1/8" play. Lubing it will tighten it but never fix it.

did you check both wheels? mine totally sounded like the drivers side was bad and it was actually the passenger side that had all kindsa play in the hub

Thanks for the info, should have stayed that did use a bar to check for up and down play. Thought maybe there way another way.

As far as being positive, I had someone else drive my truck with me beside it. It was defiantly the passenger side.

I am also looking into the rough country upper control arms for better travel and life out of the ball joints.

Thanks for the help.
