Ok so I tried everything.....My driver side door lock keeps freezing when it drops temp at night. Just the drives door. Would use my key fob but I lost it and don't know the FCC number to get another one. 2 different numbers to get and I would wind up getting the wrong one. Anyways I tried WD-40 Silicone spray and door lock de-icer. WD-40 works for about a week. Silicone works for 2 days. And de-icer works just once. What the heck can I put in there to keep it from freezing up? Its starting to chap my ass!!:mad3: Was thinking about dipping my key in some grease and sticking it in the locks but that would FUBAR the tumblers I think. Any help is thankful

Hand sanitizer. It's alcohol based and will not freeze. Coat your key with it and stick it in your door lock and work the lock a little bit. It should help out.

Thanks. Didn't think about that one. Will try that right now and see in the morning. Thanks again.

Another question: How to figure out the FCC ID of a lost key fob? There are 2 different ones to choose from online and it has to be the right one. There is one with the FCC# of 15042968 And another with 15732803. Where do I look for this number. If I had a key fob it would make my life a lot better. My kid is always forgetting to lock the rig and would be nice to lock it from my kitchen window instead of getting dressed to go in the cold to lock it.

I have the same problem but no key hole I replace front door handles with rear ones and have to unlock with clicker and open rear driver side door and climb forward and move the lever by hand. Mine also only does it when cold. What can I do?

Key fob is an easy one, take your vin to the dealership, they can give you that info, and try to sell you a new one. I have had decent luck with the ones on ebay when I've had to replace mine.

You may have to replace your actuator, or at the very least, take your door apart and lube the lock mechanism on your door latch. You could try to lube the door lock mech, and run the lock back and forth a bit, maybe the old grease is getting to thick for the lock actuator to work.

Or go to junk yard and get a couple. Sell the ones that don't work. Hell I got mine free but I know the owner so.. and my Honda lock freezes aswell. I just have to let it defrost with the heater on full blast...

So I went to the junk yard today and no luck no rigs like mine there not even close to being one there. Pretty much all OBS rigs. Not one NBS. So then I went to the stealership and they want to charge me 50.00 for the fob and 40.00 to program. I told them I just need the FCC number and I can find one cheaper. They said well there are two different ones and we would need to hook the computer up to it to find out. I asked the dumb question "How much" he said well we would have to charge you an hour rate at 90.00 per hour. I told him he must be crazy if you think im going to pay 90.00 for something that takes less than 2 min. All I need is the number. I can find a fob off eba for 15 bucks. Guess I will just have to guess and pick the right one. Its a 50/50 chance. Still would be cheaper to get both than go to the stealership. What numbers do you guys have on the back of your fobs?

Ok I think I narrowed it down as to its 15732803 for the remote fob I need. Seems is from 99- the beginning of 01. And 15042968 is for mid 01 to 02. Mid year they switched fobs in 01. If I'm reading the charts correct it should be that way. So just depends on what date is on your door sticker IMO. What do you guys think?

Has anyone tried lubricating the lock with graphite? I'm going to eventually try this bc my drivers side lock seems seized.
