95 tahoe 4wd 5.7L
Went out like normal and started the truck and the starter kept going, disconnected the battery, waited a few seconds and tapped the starter cable to the battery and it didn't start cranking again. So I hooked everything back up and tried starting it and nothing. Checked fuses and the 40 amp "IGN A" fuse was popped put in another and that popped when I tried starting it again. Traced wires and found the smaller red wire going from fuse panel to the starter was shorted. Replaced that and put the fuse back in and it started cranking again with no keys in the ignition. I tried turning the key to run position and putting the fuse back in and the fuel pump isn't kicking on even with the ign fuse out and key in run position. Am I looking at the ignition switch being bad?
Noticed something else this morning, none of the dash warning lights come on when key is in run position.
